Before the looks of Google Lens, image understanding and recognition was in its infancy. Google Shopping looked for ways to make images you discover on the web shoppable, to help users fufill that need and eliminate steps in their shopping journey.
Alongside a product manager, we led the effort to parter with some well known brands to showcase our new tech and interface.
The experience was experimental and was meant to be used for learnings to influence future products. But we crafted an exciting experience that allowed users to tap on products in a photo and find places to buy them.
