This Is My Normal Documentary

Back in the days of my internship, I became passionate about a non-profit that worked in the a troubling part of Africa, helping out local communities.

"This is My Normal" is a documentary film exploring two primary questions: “What is poverty?” and “What is normal?” These questions are investigated through the stories and imagery of the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. In particular, the film focuses on the people of the Mathare Valley - a section of the Mathare slums, often referred to as the “Forgotten Valley.”

I partnered with the directors and creators to give the documentary an extraordinary vibrancy and tone for the illustration and package design, as well as craft a custom typeface.
